between clouds and origami
Trend news
Bernard Arnault, president of LVMH, has commissioned
the architect Frank Gehry, famous for the Guggenheim of Bilbao and the Vitra
Museum in Germany to design his next project will be located in the Jardin d’Acclimatation
in Paris. It will house a varied collection of art, ranging from Francis Bacon
to Damien Hirst.
As can be found in many of Gehry’s works, the building will have a sense
of movement with cloudlike shapes and an origami play of transparent glass. The
completed project will include 6000m2 of exhibition space, an auditorium and
hanging gardens.
Origami, a concept dear to Promostyl,
is an important element in the PURE theme of Winter 07-08. This ancestral Japanese
technique can be found in numerous design objects, from aluminum to ceramics
and from packaging to porcelain goods.
In the latest collection of Policromi by Marco Zanuto, we find these
folding techniques applied to faceted mirror effects in steel and aluminum
bases that have been folded and cut.
